OUR KIDS LIFE IN FRANCE, A place of our own

The first couple of weeks were spent resting and enjoying the new scenery, and basically getting familiar with the surroundings. And, of course, catching up with mum & dad, as dad had been quite ill recently. The children were happy, and enjoying the adventure being with "nanny & grandad France", as the eldest called them.
But then we had to get serious. I mean we couldn't live with my parents forever, we had to find something of our own before the money ran out. We considered getting jobs, but there were 2 obstacles; 1. my husband didn't speak a word of French, and 2. we needed to be settled into our own place first, to get the eldest into school. So we decided to look into the catering trade, as that is my profession and I did speak fluent French. We spent days and days out in the car looking in estate agents windows and scouring through local papers, but everything was so expensive! And then one day, about a month later, we saw it. A little hotel, just 15 rooms, without a restaurant, in a lovely village, close to the sea and to my parents....Perfect! We couldn't afford to buy it outright without a loan, so we set straight to it, setting up meetings with the bank and getting all the documents & information we needed together. It took some time and quite a few "we forgot to tell you we also need this document"'s later, we got a favourable answer!! Yippee, we've got a project at last, or so we thought...
